Corrective Exercise!

Physical therapy has a relative! It's a system of training that uses corrective exercise strategies to improve muscle imbalances and movement capabilities to decrease injury especially in those who do repetitive movements, overuse, sedentary living and improper movement techniques. These dysfunctions lead to common injuries in both active and inactive populations. Physical therapy is used mainly after these common dysfunctions listed above lead to injury but won't necessarily prevent future injuries like corrective exercise.

Corrective exercise is 3 step process:

  1. Identify the problem ( evaluate)

  2. Solve the problem ( corrective program design)

  3. Implement the solution ( exercise technique)

Think of corrective exercise as upgraded physical therapy that can prevent future injury or reinjury.
